Life between the pages
I love reading new books! When I read, I am envisioning the characters and stories in real life, as their stories unfold right before my eyes. There are times when I would finish a page/chapter and try to predict the next scene as if it were the intermission to a movie.
Similar to those stories, life has a funny way of reminding you of all you’ve done, both the wins and losses, while still keeping you in confinement, worrying and anticipating about the future. While holding our memories in one hand we find ourselves scrambling frantically with the other to get to the next page - whether to recreate the past, avoid the present, or simply see what comes next! This can create fear, anxiety, and apprehension for some.
What most don’t pay attention to, or allow for, is the small pause in between the pages. In this moment you have many options; the freedom to choose! This window of opportunity is empowering to say the least! You get to decide what to do next, whether it be taking a moment to reflect on what just happened, plan for or predict what is coming next, or just to take a break to enjoy where you are; intermission. I encourage you to take that intermission, to pause and think about where you are on your journey. Are you anxiously awaiting to turn the page for the rest of the story, forgoing the opportunity to digest what has previously been written? Or do you live in the pause between the pages, in the stillness of not knowing what’s to come but embracing every bit of what and where you’ve been. The beauty is you get to choose!
